The state of “Open” things in the “Social” panorama on Nov 1, 2007

by Jose E.

Some news are making weaves into the blogosphere today: Google is launching their OpenSocial plattform to help developers make applications for every Social Network out there, including: Orkut, LinkedIn, Viadeo, hi5, Ning, Friendster, Salesforce and Oracle, and now is rumored MySpace too (as I am writing this Bebo joins too, hey! the last one… turn the lights out!).

Some are saying: because Google loosed their slice-pie of Facebook agains Microsoft, they are launching a “Vendeta” platform, I don´t think so. (but notice that Facebook is not in list).

The things behind the others things (can you see it?)

Facebook is set to launch targeted “silents ADs”,that means: FB knows everithing about you, right? right!, FB put a piece of information in you browser with “relevant” info to Products vendors, next, the ADs from the products that you may like follow you wherever you go on the Internet. These ones, certainly, are more efectives ADs, we can call it Advertising 2.0.

With now Google in the middle of the Social Scene, knows you better (have all your data), and the ADs 2.0 will follow you using the most-wide-over-use Google Adsense service. That´s why Google is launching OpenSocial. All the rest is dust in the wind.

The good news

Developers now can write their applications only once and mantaing only one code, not one for every new-in-town social network who open their doors (APIs). ADs 2.0 may take a little bit in appear but certainly will have more ROI than todays ADs.

Finally

All this is good for the final user? Well… it will depend on how good are the new OpenSocial Applications out there.

This is a good time to jump and flow, join the OpenSocial. Let your data run free and be ready to be follow for that Hummer in your dreams wherever you got online.

Keep flowing.
